Learning How To Sell Online

Mastering Online Jewelry Sales: Transitioning from Maker to Business Visionary

Embarking on my jewelry business journey, I'm quickly understanding the intricacies involved in crafting and promoting handmade jewelry. Let me share some insights and shifts I've made.

Challenges in Handmade Jewelry Business:

  1. Sourcing Raw Materials: Finding and buying gemstones, beads, findings, chain, and other components.
  2. Production: Designing and creating multiples of a jewelry design.
  3. Digital Marketing: Producing high-resolution photos and videos for different platforms and crafting compelling product descriptions.

The Pivot: Instead of just being a jewelry maker, my focus now is to master online sales. This isn't just about selling jewelry but selling effectively online. I understand the importance of branding, driving organic traffic, and developing a robust online presence. To truly succeed and stand out, I need to learn the art of inbound marketing and generate genuine desire for my products.

Short-Term Strategy - Find Other Vendors: While I work towards creating that brand allure, I'm also looking to curate jewelry from like-minded vendors. The criteria are:

  • Quality-centric, with a wide design range.
  • Access to professional photos – with and without models.
  • Detailed, honest product descriptions.
  • Low minimum order quantity (MOQ).
  • A solid business track record (at least 3 years).
  • Genuine wholesale pricing.

By partnering with these vendors, if I can find them, I can focus on setting up the core infrastructure for my business, including social media strategies, ad campaigns, and customer relationship management.

Exploring Vendor Options: While hunting for the right partners, I've explored:

  • AliExpress: Often dubbed the 'Amazon of China'.
  • Alibaba: Think of it as China's version of Amazon Business.
  • Faire: A global online marketplace resembling a massive craft show.
  • Etsy: A fusion of the above platforms with a diverse range of sellers.

My strategy involves ordering samples, testing their appeal through content marketing and ads, and then scaling the most popular items.

Stay with me on this journey as I transition from a passionate maker to a business visionary. I'll be sharing more updates, tips, and results along the way!

XO,

Tammy
